On Friday April 4, a 25-year-old woman took her pet African Grey parrot for a walk through Sunny Hill Park in Hendon, north-west London.

As she left the park a man grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her to the ground with both hands.

According to the Metropolitan Police, at this point the woman’s parrot, named Wunsy, flapped his wings and squawked, startling the suspect who made off towards Great North Road.

The woman and the parrot were both unharmed by the assault.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 25 and 35, with short blonde hair and wearing beige trousers and a dark black rucksack.

This was a random attack on a woman walking out of a park.

Although the parrot Wunsy come to her rescue, we are obviously very keen to trace the suspect and prevent him from attacking anybody else.

I would encourage anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has seen the man in the local area to call police on 101 quoting reference 2407517/14. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
