He said: "It was cold water with sub zero temperature and then there is that impossibility of getting out anywhere. There is [an] armour of ice over the diver's head."

Free divers head to the White Sea every year, though ground temperatures fall as low as minus 20 degrees, and the water temperature hovers around minus two degrees.
