Gorgeous Girl Killed Herself, But Left Behind 5 Items With Detailed Note

Madison Holleran was a beautiful and intelligent varsity athlete at the University of Pennsylvania with a bright future ahead of her. But at just 19-years-old, she jumped to her death, ending her life and the world of opportunities that awaited her. She took the fatal plunge, clenching five specific items and a note that explained why she chose to end it all.

Her note read, in part, “I thought how unpleasant it is to be locked out, and I thought how it is worse perhaps to be locked in. For you mom…the necklaces…For you, Nana & Papa…GingerSnaps (always reminds me of you)…For you Ingrid…The Happiness Project. And Dad…the Godiva chocolate truffles. I love you all…I’m sorry. I love you.”

Madison had the gifts mentioned in the note with her when she jumped, along with a photo of herself and a copy of Reconstructing Amelia, a story about an overachieving girl who eventually commits suicide, the Daily Mail reported.

Now, a year after her January 2014 suicide that shocked her family and community, Madison’s parents, Jim and Stacy Holleran, are sharing her story in hopes of helping other high school seniors and new college co-eds. Their message is specifically to bring awareness to those struggling with or know of someone struggling with circumstantial depression, who may have never felt down until this transitional phase in life, which was the case for Madison.

Madison had been a happy, high-achieving girl, who always did well in athletics and academics. She didn’t have a boyfriend, substance abuse issues, or a personal or family history of mental illness at the time of her death, which are typical contributing factors in most teen suicides. She had never been depressed until her first semester in college, when she began feeling very down about herself and having suicidal thoughts.

The Hollerans had tried to get their daughter into therapy after she admitted to them she was thinking about killing herself. They were shocked to learn their happy, well-adjusted daughter had taken such an unexpected turn in life. Her mother was unable to schedule an immediate appointment since it was the weekend.

Madison was home with her family over winter break for the holidays, and her parents felt she seemed happier, making them hopeful that she had overcome this dark time. Sadly, she committed suicide just a few weeks later, when she jumped from a tall parking garage. Just hours before she jumped, Jim had sent her a text message, reminding her to ask her new therapist to write her a prescription for antidepressants.

In their grief after her death, Jim explained to other parents though their newly established foundation in their daughter’s memory, The Madison Holleran Foundation, “I don’t think she realized how awful it would be for us to not have her around.” Jim also issued a warning to other parents, “Parents, if you see a huge change in your child and you haven’t discussed suicide with them, open that discussion up,” NorthJersey.com reported.

Fox News hosts say forget free community college, just 'get a part time job'

President Obama recently proposed a plan to make community college tuition free. Despite receiving warm reviews from many, Republicans and conservative critics have hit back hard, calling the proposal another government handout.

While the tagline is "free," reports indicate that the president's plan would actually cost $60 billion over the next decade, or about $6 billion a year. Supporters say that the investment is needed, educating millions of Americans who would be better equipped to enter the workforce. Critics point to the high price tag that, with a national debt of $18 trillion, is too much to add on without an offset. Obama once again spoke about his community college proposal during Tuesday's State of the Union address, and the topic was discussed on the Jan. 20 edition of "Fox and Friends," on Fox News.

"Here’s the thing that really bothers me about this,” host Steve Doocy said, before stating, “I made my final two college tuition payments about two weeks ago.” Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck double downed on Doocy's comments, pointing to the $60 billion it will cost to fund the tuition free proposal. "Wait a second, now we’re paying for more college tuition for someone else to the tune of $60 billion."

Hasselback continued, citing a study which she believes proves that the education system is so out of whack that it isn't even worth sending people to. The former co-host of "The View" stated, "Americans actually are not as prepared as we think they are coming out of school."

“Four in 10 United States college students graduate without the complex reasoning skills to manage white collar work! That’s one. And another (study) found that nine out of 10 employers are saying that recent college graduates are poorly prepared for the workforce...So instead of fixing the problem, they’re just bringing more students into it."

The community college plan would have restrictions. Students would be required to attend at least part time and maintain a B average to go to school tuition free. While the classes would be "free," books, supplies and any room and board would not be covered. Forbes points out that low-income Americans already have their tuition covered in the form of Pell Grants, and Obama's plan would cover those who come from "moderately affluent families." The article also states that when people have "skin in the game," they are more inclined to put the effort in to succeed.

The man, James William King, attempted to film up a woman’s skirt using his Samsung Galaxy S II smart phone. Tenicka, the alleged victim, informed police that she had turned around to find King a foot away, positioning his phone in a way to see up her skirt.

Tenicka, who had been shopping with a male family member, informed her companion about the incident after walking away from the predator. When the man confronted him, King refused to show him his cell phone, according to Orlando Sentinel. However, Tenicka’s quick thinking family member calmly took a photo of King’s face and was also able to follow the criminal to his car, where he snapped a photo of the license plate on the pervert’s Volkswagen Jetta.

The actions of the Tenicka’s bold companion led the police straight to King’s home in Maitland.

Detectives used Walmart’s surveillance video to confirm the woman’s story. When detectives confronted King regarding the video, he admitted that his actions made him look suspicious. However, King tried to explained that “he actually meant to look at a to-do list he had on his cell phone.” According the Mirror, no such list was found when cops investigated King’s phone.

King faces a felony charge of video voyeurism, according to Orlando Sentinel. He has already been released from the Orange County Jail after paying his $1,000 bail.

By the ruling of the court, 13 teenage boys were publicly executed by ISIS for watching a program that many around the world were viewing at the same time: the Asian Cup.

The boys were caught watching the soccer match between Iraq and Jordan last week, an offense warranting the death penalty, reports Daily Mail.

The young fans had been watching the game in Mosul, an Iraqi city now overrun by ISIS insurgents and ruled by a barbaric Islamic caliphate.

All 13 children were rounded up and shot to death by a firing squad using machine guns, according to Daily Mail.

The crime was announced over a loudspeaker, an anti-ISIS activist group alleges.

“The bodies remained lying in the open and their parents were unable to withdraw them for fear of murder by the terrorist organization,” Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RIBSS) posted on its website, according to New York Post.

Watching the game was considered a violation of Sharia law, enough for even children to be sentenced to death.

ISIS is rapidly gaining power and finances, planning to expand their regime. They have no plan of ceasing slaughter until they establish a world caliphate.

“[ISIS] is a well-funded group, able to purchase cold-weather equipment,” one U.S. military official told the Post.

“Also, while there are some foreign fighters, the vast majority of [ISIS] are from the area, so they know how to adjust for weather conditions,” they added.

The attack has earned him a conviction for sexual assault with a 7-month prison sentence suspended for two years, if 80 hours community service are completed, along with satisfying $700 in court costs.

Fox’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck gushes over sniper: Killing 33 people in 4 months is ‘incredible’

Fox News host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Monday praised a retired Army sniper for killing 33 people in four months, and then encouraged him to slam filmmaker Michael Moore for saying snipers should not be thought of as heroes.

Following the news that the movie “American Sniper” broke box office records over the weekend, Hasselbeck spoke to retired Sgt. Nick Irving, who she giddily introduced as “one of the deadliest snipers in American history.”

“You know, I’m looking at your resume here, you killed 33 men in less than four months,” Hasselbeck said. “It’s good to have you on our side, I’ll say.”

“Those 33 kills in less than four months, how do you do that and then return here on, you know, safe soil?” she wondered.

Irving said that he had a “switch that needs to be turned on and off.”

“Being a sniper, it’s a prestigious job, but being able to stay calm, collective [SIC] — you do it for your brothers,” he explained. “I wasn’t out there looking for a big number to get or I wasn’t trying to be the next Chris Kyle or anything.”

Hasselbeck pointed out that Irving’s nickname was “The Reaper.”

“Goes without saying after we talk about your numbers there,” the Fox News host said, adding that Irving’s rifle also had a name, “Dirty Diana.”

Hasselbeck noted that filmmaker Michael Moore had written on Twitter that his uncle had been killed by a sniper in World War II.

“We were taught snipers were cowards,” Moore tweeted. “Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. And invaders r worse.”

“Last time I checked, he’s never shot anybody with a scoped rifle,” Irving quipped. “So, I don’t think he deserves the breath that comes out of me right now.”

“Don’t you believe that he should have turned that into somewhat of a thank you?” Hasselbeck pressed. “I mean, here you are protecting everybody here, you know, the 1 percent protecting the 99. All those kills are really to keep us safe. Don’t you think he owes you a thank you, not a shot?”

Irving said that he wasn’t interested in a “thank you” from Moore because “a lot of my friends died for his right to freedom of speech.”

“You’re a good man to take the high road there,” Hasselbeck concluded. “Your story is incredible. The Reaper, you’re known as. A gentlemen, you were today, of course, on Fox & Friends.”
