[Watch] Father Buries 10-Year-Old Daughter Alive For One Reason

Abul Hussein of Putia village near the India-Bangladesh border was arrested for burying his 10-year-old daughter alive in his backyard while his wife was away from home. NDTV reports that the man wanted to kill his little girl because he hated the fact that she was born a girl.

The girl, named Rukshena, had her hands tied and her mouth taped before being brought out to a pit in the family’s backyard. She was placed in the open grave, and earth was poured over her, filling the pit up to her chest, according to The Times of India.

Fortunately, Hussein’s wife returned home before he could complete the sinister deed. Hussein placed a bamboo drum over the Rukshena’s head, hoping to hide her and finish the burial later. His wife, however, grew suspicious of her daughter’s absence, calling neighbors for assistance. Rukshena was miraculously rescued before the dirt fatally constricted her lungs. As it often happens in India, the community drew together to deliver swift justice before police could arrive, beating the father for abusing the girl. “Abul Hussein was roughed up by the people who rescued the girl from half-buried condition,” said officer Amal Chakraborty. “Considering his week physical condition, the court sent him to Judicial Custody for four days reserving directive on our plea for police-remand.” Hussein has been charged with attempted murder and is set to begin trial on January 20. Along with many Muslim countries, India is seeing a growing number of honor killings by Muslim civilians. Most are committed by the victim’s close relatives who feel dishonored by choices or involuntary occurrences of the deceased. Muslim women and girls are most commonly the victims of honor killings, and may be so for a variety of reasons. From marrying the wrong person to using Western technology to simply being born a female, no woman is safe under Islamic rule.

Woman Gang-Raped by 10 Men, Including Husband, Made to Drink Urine

Bhilai Borkhedi village, Madhya Pradesh: 

The horrific crimes against women just refuse to cease. On Tuesday, a tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by 10 men, including her husband, in Madhya Pradesh's Bhilai Borkhedi village. She was also allegedly made to drink urine and paraded semi-naked in the village.

A few months ago, the woman and her husband had a dispute over a piece of land, following which he allegedly attacked her with an axe. The woman registered a complaint with the police and then moved into her parents' house in another village along with her 10-year-old son.

On Tuesday night, the woman's husband allegedly asked her to meet him in their village to reach a "compromise" in the axe attack case.

When the woman and her son reached their husband's village, they were allegedly tied up and locked in a store room by the husband and nine other men.

The woman was then allegedly thrashed and gang-raped.

She has also alleged that when she pleaded for some water, the accused urinated on her and made her drink it. They then paraded the woman in the village in a semi-nude state.

The woman was rescued by her relatives on Thursday after they found out that she was locked in the store room. She has been admitted to a hospital and her condition is now said to be stable.

All the 10 accused have been arrested and booked for gang-rape and assault. "According to the woman she was gang-raped and kept captive in her husband's house for three days... We are investigating the case," said the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhilai Borkhedi village.

The husband has denied the gang-rape charges. "I only slapped her and beat her with sticks," he said.

The case is the latest in a string of horrific sexual crimes against women that have been reported this month.

India’s Modi Moves From Outcast to Invited Guest to U.S.

LANDSLIDE VICTORY!

India’s Narendra Modi went from international outcast to invited guest, as the U.S. and U.K. saluted his opposition bloc’s triumph in national elections.

U.S. President Barack Obama called Modi to congratulate him on his party’s success and invited him “to visit Washington at a mutually agreeable time to further strengthen our bilateral relationship,” according to a White House statement. Modi already has accepted an invitation to visit the U.K., according to a statement from Prime Minister David Cameron’s office.

After anti-Muslim riots in 2002 in Gujarat, the state that Modi has governed since 2001, U.K. and U.S. officials refused to meet with him. The U.S. denied him a visa after human rights groups accused him of not moving to halt the carnage. Modi has repeatedly denied the accusations and a Supreme Court-appointed panel found no evidence he gave orders that prevented assistance from reaching those being attacked.

Relationships have improved more recently, with the U.K. High Commissioner meeting Modi 19 months ago and the U.S. ambassador doing the same in February.

The Obama administration congratulated India “on an historic national election, which saw more voters cast their ballots freely and fairly than in any election in human history,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters in Washington.

Cameron said on his office’s official Twitter account that he is “keen to work together to get the most from the U.K.- India relationship.”
